Our Team

What differentiates Kingsfield is that our people have worked on engineering and construction projects around the world and have held senior positions in contracting companies. We can empathise with the challenges that your project teams face and are able to work with you to devise practical yet innovative solutions bourne out of our collective experiences. We are a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team with an international outlook; a diversity we value.

Below are outline profiles of our senior services team.

John Fotherby

Executive Chairman

John focuses on helping contractors help themselves achieve profit driven solutions to commercial risk challenges on projects whilst recognising the need for sustainable business relationships with owners and the supply chain

This approach stems from the belief that arbitration or litigation does not resolve disputes effectively and although conflicts are inevitable, disputes need not be. John believes safe work delivery to the specified quality is a “must” to be complemented by a realistic project plan, adherence to a well-developed commercial strategy and effective change management practice that collectively provide a sound basis for success. However, “facts” alone are insufficient; contracting parties need to align on key project objectives and work collaboratively whilst respecting contractual boundaries. John is passionate about helping our clients develop “success factors” and achieve profitable delivery

David Tyerman

Director, Kingsfield Planning

David is passionate about the elevation of effective, dynamic and focused project planning as the central discipline for the management of schedule risk

With a career of over 25 years in project planning across a diverse range of business sectors, David’s beliefs and approach to the implementation of project planning and controls is based upon practical and proven basic principles that place heavy reliance upon practitioner competence as opposed to software expertise. As head of Kingsfield Planning, David has developed services that derive value from the project plan, whether through the currency of a project or when seeking to retrospectively analyse matters of delay and disruption

Gabriele Burian

Director, Kingsfield Academy

For Gabriele, cultivating a culture of continuous improvement, learning and inquiry is key to achieving the best possible business performance– whether at Kingsfield or in its client organisations

These values – together with almost 30 years of international industry experience and academic qualifications in psychology, organisational change & coaching as well as elearning – provide the foundation from which Gabriele has steadily built a portfolio of services which are delivered through Kingsfield Academy as well as Kingsfield Consulting. Special interests include leadership and team coaching, whole systems facilitation and project team alignment

Karen Cherrill

Director, Kingsfield Consulting

After over 25 years of broad technical and commercial experience with an international contractor, Karen finds inventive ways to apply this to help our clients at Kingsfield.

Starting as a process engineer with a degree in chemical engineering, Karen has worked on E&C projects globally.  She developed a keen interest in risk management but found it generally leaving a lot to be desired!  If all contractors actually do is bid projects and deliver them, she believes that addressing the risks of both should be at the core of their business model.  Her key aim at Kingsfield is to provide a range of services to our clients that will help them manage their project risks – in the very widest sense – and thereby achieve their business objectives
