Kingsfield Academy in association with the Construction Industry Institute (CII) presents a hands-on session in the effective use of the CII Project Definition Rating Index (PDRI) for Industrial Projects Tool. This session will be facilitated by industry specialists in the field of risk and commercial management on complex EPC projects. Participants will benefit by tapping into their ‘real-world’ experience and knowledge, in addition to learning how to use the PDRI effectively.
What is the PDRI?
The Project Definition Rating Index (PDRI) is a method developed by the CII to measure project scope definition for completeness; identifying and precisely describing each critical element in a scope definition package and thereby allowing the project team to predict factors impacting project risk. Furthermore, the PDRI allows a project development team to quantify and assess the level of scope development at each stage of your gate process up to contract award.
Owners can use PDRI as an assessment tool for establishing a “comfort” level at which they are willing to move forward with projects. Contractors can use PDRI as a method of identifying poorly-defined project scope elements.
Why Should This Interest Me?
Ever asked yourself the following question: Had we done a better job of front end planning, would we have improved the performance of our project? Poor front end planning, and in particular poor scope definition, is recognised as one of the leading causes of project failure, with industry research linking poor front end planning to cost and schedule overruns, as well as long term operational issues.
Simply put, projects can significantly benefit from the use of more effective techniques in risk assessments during project development. The Project Definition Rating Index (PDRI) is a powerful and user-friendly tool that offers just that.
From this course you will gain an understanding of the tools and techniques to effectively employ the PDRI tool in a work session and across an organisation. You will also have a hands-on opportunity to practice your newly gained PDRI skills in hypothetical situations with guidance from our industry experts. You will be provided with an electronic copy of the PDRI tool as well as an instructional handbook, allowing you to immediately implement your new skills and knowledge in your day to day work.
